Civil War letter written by Benjamin F. Erford, who served in the Union Army. Written to his wife, Lydia. He writes of marching all day and catching up to the rebels. He describes houses and barns on fire and fences burning all along the road. And says they have not lost a man yet in their regiment.

Paper also has stamp of Major General Siegel. Siegel was a German—born military officer.
