Object Name:
Drum
Source:
Peoria Public Library
Provenance:
It appears that the drum was captured by Charles Qualman at the battle of Shiloh and then given to Captain Henry Detweiller who gave it to his son Henry Detweiller. At some point it appears the drum was given to the Old Peoria Historical and Scientific Association which placed items in the Peoria Public library. This organization then ceased to exist and the items, when rediscovered at the Library, where given to the Peoria Historical Society. It seems unlikely two drums captured at Shiloh made there way to Peoria but the possibility exists there are 2 drums.
